Three research teams within Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Oxford are looking to host undergraduate and Masters students as an exciting opportunity to experience active research in an Oxford University Institute.

The eight-week funded opportunity also covers accommodation and living costs for those interested in undertaking doctoral-level research within one of the areas covered by NDM’s institutes, units and centres – please find more information on the NDM website.

Ludwig Oxford’s Yang Shi welcomes students looking to study the role of Trip4 mutations in cancer drug resistance. Successful interns could expect to receive training in experimental techniques regarding genetic, genomic and biochemistry tools to understand the underlying mechanisms of trip4 mutations in cancer drug resistance, as well as vital analysis skills and scientific thinking. Please see the advert on the NDM website.

Chunxiao Song of Ludwig Oxford welcomes applications from students interested in mapping the epigenetic modifications of DNA and RNA. Interns could expect to develop new chemistry for use in epigenetics and epitranscriptomics with the goal of advancing our understanding of the crucial processes involved in DNA and RNA modifications. Please see the advert on the NDM website.

Ludwig Oxford’s Francesco Boccellato also welcomes summer intern applications to study modelling gastric reflux using stomach stem-cell driven cultures. Students could expect to explore the role of reflux in increased incidence of gastric cancer development by modelling the effect of reflux on the stomach epithelium. This work would primarily involve treating gastric mucosoids with human gastric juices from patients with reflux and looking at regeneration and differentiation alterations. Please see the advert on the NDM website.

This is a wonderful opportunity to experience research culture within Ludwig Oxford and many previous students have gone on to successfully apply for fully funded places on the DPhil (PhD) in Clinical Medicine programme with an NDM Prize Studentship so please do consider applying.
