Dr Tom Carroll from the Lu lab receives a Highly Commended award under the NDM overall graduate student prize

Every year, the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM) awards NDM Prizes to its most outstanding graduate research students.

This year, Ludwig Oxford’s Dr Tom Carroll from Professor Xin Lu’s group has been highly commended in the NDM Overall graduate student prize. This recognition is awarded to a postgraduate research student who has shown outstanding performance during their DPhil studies, for example, for the novelty and independence of their research path and the high impact of their research within the department, the University and/or the wider world.

Tom’s thesis research project focussed on the LUD2015-005 Trial, a Phase 1/2 study of immunotherapy for oesophageal cancers. Immunotherapy is a recently approved form of treatment for this disease. The goal was to identify biomarkers that could help select patients with oesophageal cancer who are likely to benefit from immunotherapy agents, with the aim of better targeting these treatments in the future.
