Research interests
Inflammatory responses mediated by the innate immune system are essential to efficient elimination of infectious pathogens. Dysregulation of inflammation is itself a cause of disease, implicated in the development and progression of cancer. My research is aiming to determine the molecular mechanisms mediating inflammation and how these become aberrant in cancers and chronic infection.
Background
I completed my MBioChem at the University of Oxford, with my Master’s project being completed at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics. In my Master’s thesis, I aimed to determine the minimum sequence requirements of BRCA1 to efficiently mediate homologous recombination dependent repair of double strand DNA breaks and counteract the 53BP1 pathway.
