Grade 5: £26,341 - £31,406 with a discretionary range to £34,304 per annum

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Laboratory and Histology Support Technician, with a background in a life sciences laboratory environment to join our laboratory support team at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, University of Oxford.

You will work alongside the Laboratory Manager on projects in the Institute, taking sole responsibly where appropriate. You will assist the Laboratory Manager in overseeing all the Institute’s radiation work and providing support to the Senior Histology Technician (sectioning, slide preparation, etc.). You will assist the Laboratory Manager in dealing with suppliers and engineers over faulty equipment and service contracts with particular responsibility for the Histology equipment as well as ensuring that the Health and Safety requirements of the University are met. You will also share responsibility for the maintenance and daily running of the Supply Centre Management Systems: ordering, receipting, processing, storage and distribution of items.

It is essential that you are educated to A Level standard or equivalent and have recent experience of laboratory support in a life science laboratory. You will have experience of histology and have previous awareness and knowledge of the Health and Safety requirements involved in scientific research. You will be highly organised, have excellent attention to detail, the ability to manage a varied workload under pressure and meet deadlines. It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic staff, researchers and support staff.
