Ludwig Oxford’s Professor Xin Lu recounts her experiences in Ludwig Cancer Research’s special Women in Science report.

Ludwig Cancer Research has published a report celebrating the work and careers of eight outstanding Ludwig-affiliated female scientists, including Ludwig Oxford’s Professor Xin Lu. This special report highlights the gender-related challenges they have overcome, their views on the advancement of women in biomedical research, and the progress that remains to be made.

Xin has been Director of Ludwig’s Oxford Branch since its foundation in 2007. Her research focusses on the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular plasticity and the suppression of tumour growth. In this article, she recounts her experience, the importance of mentors, and the scientific freedom that she affords to her own mentees.
