Histology facility
The Histology Facility is housed in the Old Road Campus Research Building and is freely accessible to all groups in the Ludwig Oxford. It provides and maintains cutting-edge instruments in the main facility as well as guidance, training and support for all stages of histology-based experiments ensuring best practice and reliable data.
Instruments include
- Thermo Scientific Epredia HM355S Rotary Microtome, automated with manual cutting option
- Thermo Scientific Epredia Histostar Paraffin Embedder
- Bright, Cryostat OTF5000/LS-001
Other equipment used in histology are also available for use by Ludwig Oxford groups, including:
- LEICA IP S - a high-speed slide labelling instrument
- Thermo Scientific Excelsior AS Tissue Processor - an enclosed automated tissue processor
- Thermo Scientific Printmate - a cassette printer for paraffin sample cassettes
- Haematoxylin and Eosin staining port
