Artem Smirnov
Post-doctoral Fellow
I received my BSc and MSc in biotechnology from the Institute of Technology, St. Petersburg, Russia, where I worked under supervision of Prof Nick A Barlev. My theses were focused on the generation of test-systems to screen for inhibitors of the p53/Mdm2 interaction. After this, I moved to Gerry Melino’s lab at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Italy. There I got my PhD working with Prof Eleonora Candi. The major topic of our research was the investigation of the role of p63 in regulation of keratinocyte differentiation and proliferation, as well as its involvement in epithelial cancer. In 2019 I started my postdoc in Xin Lu’s lab in Oxford where I work on the re-activation of EBV in epithelial cancer.
