Grade 5: £28,759 - £33,966 with a discretionary range to £37,099 per annum

Are you looking for an interesting and challenging role within the research sector? We have an exciting opportunity at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, for a Research Technician to join the research group headed by Dr Marketa Tomkova.

You will be responsible for designing and performing protocols to clone and purify DNA polymerases, and performing experiments to analyse their activity. You will perform laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations, and you will keep detailed record of all activities and experiments, and present results to other team members. Other responsibilities will include maintaining equipment, including washing, sterilisation and disposal, performing quality checks and contributing to the general cleanliness and upkeep of the laboratory space, and contributing to general laboratory management (ordering and organisation of stocks) and shared laboratory duties.

It is essential that you are educated to A-Level standard in science, or equivalent scientific qualification, and have laboratory research experience. You will have knowledge and experience in molecular biology and protein chemistry techniques including PCR, cloning, electrophoresis, western blotting, and basic cell culture. It is essential that you are able to work in the laboratory independently, as well as a part of a research team, and you will have a methodological and careful approach and excellent record keeping.
