Two students from Ludwig Oxford have won Nuffield Department of Medicine Graduate Student prizes for 2019.

Maria Prange-Barczynska in Tammie Bishop’s/Peter Ratcliffe’s group has been awarded the Year 2 Prize. Maria is working to understand the role of HIF2α in the carotid body in the physiological responses to low oxygen. Virginia Schmid from David Mole’s/Peter Ratcliffe’s group was awarded the 4th Year Prize. Virginia has recently published a paper in Scientific Reports on the overlap of genetic polymorphisms in kidney cancer with HIF binding sites. Congratulations to both winners.
