The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Academy’s mission is to “recognize and honor distinguished scientists whose major scientific contributions have propelled significant innovation and progress against cancer, and to leverage the expertise of the global brain trust of Fellows of the AACR Academy to advance the mission of the AACR to prevent and cure all cancers through research, education, communication, and collaboration.”
Each year, 10-25 Fellows are elected through a peer review process and this year, Professor Sir Peter Ratcliffe is honoured for his research on oxygen sensing. Sir Peter is a full member of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Oxford Branch, Director of the Target Discovery Institute in Oxford and Clinical Research Director at the Francis Crick Institute in London.
