The Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research is looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Cancer Immunology to join Professor Yang Shi’s research group. Working in collaboration with Professor Benoit Van den Eynde’s group, the post holder will identify and uncover underlying mechanisms of epigenetic regulators that regulate the conversion of poorly immunogenic tumours to those responsive to immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy, as well as epigenetic factors that regulate T cell exhaustion, which impacts the sustainability of responses to ICB, using chromatin biology, biochemistry and epigenomics technologies as well as relevant immunological tools
You will perform original research to investigate the effects of epigenetic mechanisms on immune checkpoint therapy. You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, including small scale project management and co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. Using your expertise, you will supervise and train junior staff in chromatin and cancer biology.
You will have a Ph.D. degree (or close to completion) in immunology or a relevant field, and have previous laboratory experience relevant to the project, as well as a significant background in immunology/ cancer immunology. It is essential that you have a strong publication record for career stage, such as first-author publications in internationally recognised journals and good attention to detail. You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This post is fixed term for 3 years and is funded by the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.
Applications must be made online by 12.00 noon (UK time) on Friday 21st May 2021.
