Ashvina Segaran
Clinical DPhil student
I am a CRUK funded Clinical Research Training Fellow and am undertaking a DPhil in translational cancer biology. I completed my medical degree in 2010 from the University of Cambridge and went on to do my basic surgical training there before moving to Oxford in 2015 where I hold a National Training Number in General Surgery.
I am intending to specialise in Oncoplastic Breast surgery, and I am interested in the field of breast cancer. The focus of my research is investigating the link between obesity and breast cancer, particularly the tumour microenvironment and nucleotide metabolism using mass spectrometry.
Apart from research I am also actively involved in delivering surgical teaching to the medical students from the University of Oxford, and I am also a clinical tutor for University College.
