Laboratory Assistant
research interests
I am a Laboratory Assistant in Dr Chunxiao Song's group at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, University of Oxford. My work focuses on the optimisation of BACS (2-Bromoacrylamide-assisted cyclisation sequencing) which enables precise Ψ-to-C conversions in RNA, allowing for the quantitative profiling of pseudouridine (Ψ) at single-base resolution.
background
I trained as a Medicinal Chemist at the University of St Andrews, completing a thesis on inorganic synthesis for an acenaphene catalyst and publishing my undergraduate research on pectin and lignin fractionation in JACS, which earned me a Research Assistant Award. Building on my interest in chemical analysis and clinical applications, I pursued an MSc in Analytical Chemistry at the University of London, focusing on molecular self-assemblies for targeted drug delivery.
Professionally, I started as a Research Associate II at Exact Sciences, where I specialised in nucleic acid reduction chemistry, optimising pyridine-borane synthesis and reduction for DNA library preparation in cancer diagnostics using TAPS technology. I then joined Oxford Biodynamics as an Associate Scientist, working with the EpiSwitch 3D genomics platform to support clinical diagnostics.
