Research interests
I am a protein biochemist with a background in structural biology and am particularly interested in enzymes that control RNA polymerase II and the epigenome through post-translational modifications such as methylation, acetylation and phosphorylation. I am investigating their functional role in transcriptional regulation, but moreover, many of these enzymes are involved in oncogenesis and I aim to identify new chemical probes with potential therapeutic applications in cancer.

I completed my BSc in Biology at the University of Hamburg and my MSc and PhD (Dr.rer.nat.) at the University of Bonn, Germany, where I investigated structural and functional aspects of human kinases regulating RNA polymerase II. In 2024, I joined Yang Shi's lab as a Postdoctoral Researcher.
