Priyanka Jhangiani
Sample Manager
Professional Services Role
I work as the Sample Manager at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, where I oversee the organisation, traceability, and governance of human research and clinical trial samples across multiple studies and collaborations. My work focuses on developing structured workflows for biosample management, implementing and maintaining electronic tracking systems such as OpenSpecimen, and ensuring compliance with the Human Tissue Act (HTA) and institutional quality standards.
I coordinate biosample transfers and documentation between research groups and clinical sites, and support process improvement and audit-readiness across the Institute’s sample workflows. I also assist with training staff and students on documentation and compliance practices to promote consistency and accuracy in sample handling.
Background
Prior to my current role, I worked as a Research Assistant in a serology lab at the John Radcliffe Hospital, contributing to the large-scale ONS-led COVID-19 Serology Antibody Detection study. This work involved high-throughput processing of clinical samples using liquid-handling automation and LIMS-based tracking.
Before that, I held research technician positions at the University of Birmingham, the University of Manchester, and Newcastle University, where I also completed my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Biomedical Sciences (Physiology) and Industrial and Commercial Biotechnology.
