The Owen group is focussed on understanding how oesophageal and gastric cancer behaves during therapy, and why there is such a wide range of responses to treatment. Our aim is to identify ways in which therapeutic response can be predicted or identified early, to find opportunities for preferable therapeutic strategies. We use a combination of sequencing, human tissue models, and spatial analysis to understand interactions within the tumour microenvironment, and how myeloid compartment trajectories change under therapeutic stress.
