The Pathania lab focuses on unravelling the intricate interactions between genetic, epigenetic, and microenvironmental factors that drive brain tumour development and resistance to therapy. By building more accurate models of diverse brain tumour types, the lab investigates how tumour initiation and treatment response are shaped by developmental origins, genetic heterogeneity, and tumour–microenvironment interactions in vivo.

These models also serve as platforms to test targeted therapies and study the mechanisms underlying resistance to chemo-, radio- and immunotherapies, with the goal of anticipating challenges in clinical trials and improving the effectiveness of existing treatments. Ultimately, the lab’s work aims to advance the development of more precise, durable, and patient-centred therapeutic strategies for brain tumours.
