We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team at the Ludwig Cancer Research Oxford Branch.

You will be supervised by Professor Yang Shi at Ludwig Cancer Research and work closely with a medicinal chemist. Your primary responsibility will be to purify recombinant proteins and set up in vitro assays for the RNA enzymes as well as a panel of additional enzymes as negative/selectivity controls to identify small molecules that have on-target activities towards intended RNA enzymes. You will also develop cell-based activity assays and, if possible, in vivo models to evaluate the efficacy of the compounds. You will design and perform original research and manage your own academic research and administrative activities which will include small scale project management, and the coordination of multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or close to completion) in Biochemistry or Cell Biology, and have a strong biochemical, molecular and cell biological background. Demonstrable experience in assay development and in analysing small molecules in vitro and in vivo is essential, as well as the ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities. You will have a good publication record, including experience in independently writing scientific reports and manuscripts, and be well organised with the ability to adapt to changing project priorities.

This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 3 years and is funded by the Department.

Applications must be made online by 12.00 noon (UK time) on Tuesday 11 April 2023.
