Dr Marketa tomkova

The goal of our group is to understand how mutagenesis and epigenomics interact to cause cancer, and how we can use the knowledge for effective cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.

We use computational approaches to dissect the cancer-causing mechanisms based on large multi-omics datasets and collaborate with other labs to validate the mechanisms experimentally. We also develop computational methods using deep learning and multi-omics data integration. Finally, we develop sequencing-based, computational, and other technologies that allow us to study DNA polymerase errors, non-clonal DNA mutations in single molecules, DNA/RNA modifications, DNA damage, and epigenome editing.
